Mayor Maynot

City Hall, 245 Elm Street • 397-CITY ext. 101

Office hours are 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Paige Turner, General Secretary to the Mayor, is at ext. 102. “I’m Mayor Maynot. Welcome to my office. This is my general secretary, Paige Turner. She’s not actually a general, but she does give the orders around here. You may have heard a few things about me from the other departments. Please remember, those people work with numbers, regulations, and heavy equipment. Humor isn’t necessarily their specialty. We do our best to provide accurate information. Occasionally, the facts change before we’ve finished explaining them. If something my office told you turns out to be incorrect, please let us know. We’d hate for you to hear the correction from Granny’s newspaper first.”

Planning Commission

Chair Clara Vision

City Hall, 245 Elm Street • 397-CITY ext. 104

Clara Vision comes from a family with deep roots in Sleepy Hollow and has called the town home her entire life. Her leadership and long-term vision have earned the respect of the community. “I’m Clara Vision. Welcome to the Planning Commission, where we help shape Sleepy Hollow’s future—and ask where everyone plans to park. Bring your ideas, your drawings, and your patience. ‘About this big’ is a good start, but we’ll need measurements. Mayor Maynot calls himself a man of vision. I’m still waiting for him to submit it with a site plan.”

Public Works Director Wong Detours standing in his office at the Public Works Department

Public Works

Director Wong Detours

City Hall, 245 Elm Street • 397-CITY ext. 105

Wong Detours is also a City Council member. The Detour family has called Sleepy Hollow home for more than six generations, keeping the town’s roads, bridges, and public spaces running smoothly. “I’m Wong Detours. Welcome to Public Works. We keep Sleepy Hollow running, patch what needs patching, and find out what that noise is. If you see us leaning on a shovel, we’re discussing the next step. Sometimes the next step requires a second shovel. Mayor Maynot likes to announce projects. We like to know about them before he announces the completion date.”

Finance Director Juanita Newton standing in her office at the City Finance Department

Finance Department

Finance Director Juanita Newton

City Hall, 245 Elm Street • 397-CITY ext. 103

Juanita Newton is one of Sleepy Hollow’s sharpest financial minds. Mayor Maynot personally convinced her to lead the department. “I’m Juanita Newton. Welcome to the Finance Department, where we make sure the town’s numbers add up—even when the explanations don’t. Every department has a budget. Most consider it a starting point for negotiations. If Mayor Maynot told you the town would pay for something, please bring that promise in writing. I keep a folder. It’s becoming a filing cabinet.”

Police Chief Lou Natic welcoming visitors in front of the Sleepy Hollow Police Department

Police Department

Chief Lou Natic

275 Elm Street • 397-ICE

Born and raised in Sleepy Hollow, Chief Lou Natic was once the town’s star high school quarterback and now proudly serves its people. “Chief Lou Natic here. Welcome to the Sleepy Hollow Police Department. We keep an eye on things so the rest of town can keep talking about them. If you’ve seen something suspicious, we’d like the facts. If you’ve only heard something suspicious, Stormy Gale probably got there before us. Mayor Maynot says his door is always open. We’ve advised him to lock it when he leaves.”

Fire Chief Blaze Inferno standing in front of the entrance to the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department

Fire Department

Fire Chief Blaze Inferno

270 Columbia Blvd • 397-FIRE

Blaze Inferno helped modernize Sleepy Hollow’s volunteer fire department and became its first Fire Chief. “Welcome to the fire department! Yes, my name is Blaze Inferno. No, I didn’t put that on the application to improve my chances. We’re proud to serve Sleepy Hollow. If you’re stopping by for a tour, I’ll gladly show you around. If you’re here because Mayor Maynot promised you a ride in the fire truck, we need to have a different conversation.”

Sanitation Department Head Ben Baron standing beside a garbage truck at the entrance to the Sleepy Hollow Sanitation Department

Sanitation Department

Department Head Ben Baron

4350 Sanitary Way • 397-JUNK

Ben Baron believes a clean town reflects the people who live in it. He may look tough, but he’d gladly give you the shirt off his back. “I’m Ben Baron, Sanitation Department Head. We keep Sleepy Hollow clean, which gives us a different view of the town than you’ll find in the brochure. Please have your bins out before the truck arrives. Running down the driveway in your slippers is exercise, but it isn’t part of our collection service. People ask if we hear much gossip on our route. We do, but we only pick up what’s in the bins.”

Sleepy Hollow Library

Dewey and Laud Decibal

375 S. 18th St. • 397-SHHH

Owned by Dewey and Laud Decibal, the Sleepy Hollow Library sits beside Newton Park—a handy place to borrow a book before finding a shady spot to read. Their daughter, Bell Decibal, keeps the shelves in order at Sleepy Hollow High School’s separate library. Apparently, a love of books runs in the family. So does reminding people to be quiet.

Parks and Recreation Director Jamsin Rhodes welcoming visitors at the entrance to the Parks and Recreation Department

Parks & Recreation Department

Director Jamsin Rhodes

190 Fair Way • 397-PARK

Raised by a hunting guide, Director Jamsin Rhodes brings exceptional outdoor and survival skills to Sleepy Hollow’s Parks & Recreation Department. The department also operates a branch at Quick Mountain Trails (397-QMTJ). “Come enjoy our parks, stretch your legs, and spend a little time outdoors. If you’re heading onto the trails, bring water, wear good shoes, and tell someone where you’re going. And please take your litter home. Leaving a trail of snack wrappers doesn’t count as a navigation technique.”

Sleepy Hollow High School, home of the Swine Dogs, with its mascot beside the front entrance

Sleepy Hollow High School

Principal Betty Belfry

2375 Gable Rd • 397-SHHS

Known around town as Sleepy High, Sleepy Hollow High School is home of the Swine Dogs. Principal Betty Belfry leads a team that includes Vice Principal Buddy Welch, Secretary Donna Gatekeeper, Counselors Ema Goosip and Ryan Goosling, and Librarian Bell Decibal. “Welcome to Sleepy High! We encourage our students to ask questions, think for themselves, and bring a pencil. You’d be surprised which one gives us the most trouble. Parents, please check in with Donna Gatekeeper at the front office. And remember, ‘Your mother knows my mother’ is a conversation starter, not an excused absence.”
